On January 24, 2020 Otto Construction, Nacht & Lewis, ICS, and San Juan Unified School District celebrated the ribbon cutting of Greer Elementary School. After four years of planning and two years of construction the newly modernized K-5th grade school is officially complete. Originally built in 1952, the campus was in dire need of upgraded facilities to meet the current teaching and learning standards. The innovative design, known as Project JOE (Jump on Education), is focused on 21st century learning promoting a flexible and collaborative environment for students and staff. Features include outdoor learning spaces, indoor break-out spaces for more specialized one-on-one instruction, and movable partitions that allow for more collaboration between classrooms. The project consisted of over 30,000SF of new ground-up facilities and complete modernization of over 24,000SF of existing space. The school remained occupied throughout construction.
