SACRAMENTO – Otto Construction is celebrating 75 years of “Changing The Landscape”, and now the Sacramento-based contractor is celebrating being named Engineering News Record California’s 2022 Contractor of the Year. The magazine performs annual surveys and ranks companies engaged in general contracting, engineering, and architecture, among other specialties based on their annual revenue while selecting one firm in each segment and region as its Firm of the Year.

“Otto Construction is honored to be recognized by ENR. In addition to celebrating our 75th year of building, we transitioned to our third generation of leadership and became a certified woman-owned business,” says Otto Construction President and CEO, Allison Otto. “There is a lot to celebrate this year– with a robust backlog on the horizon and large projects with long-time clients breaking ground, we are well positioned for both the growth of our company and of our capabilities.” In July 2021, Allison Otto, a third-generation family member became President and CEO of the 75-year-old firm, making it one of the largest female and family-owned general contractors in Northern California.

Otto has a proud legacy of building relationships that have led to their continued success for the past 75 years. It’s building on that legacy today with high-profile projects with repeat clients such as the recently awarded American River College Technical Education Building for the Los Rios Community College District; the recently completed Pamela Mari Da Vinci Tech Hub for the Davis Joint Unified School District; and the Mayo Hall Renovation and Addition for CSU Maritime Academy. Most recently, the company has received impressive accolades for its work, including an AGC Constructor of the Year award two years in a row, the AGC Legacy Award, and a Most Admired CEO award from the Sacramento Business Journal.

With offices in Sacramento and Monterey, the company continues to grow and evolve by learning new construction methods, leveraging technology and embracing diversity and inclusion.
