The construction phase is officially underway on the renovation of the Vasche Library at CSU Stanislaus. This Collaborative Design-Build partnership between Otto Construction, EHDD Architects and CSU Stanislaus will bring the 3-story 1960s era building into the 21st century. Once the renovation is complete, the 133,077SF library will be able to accommodate 1,000 people at a time.  Currently, Stan State’s collection contains 675,000 items that take up 30,603SF of space on multiple floors, but thanks to a new state-of-the-art Electronic Compact Book Storage System the same collection will only take up 16,977SF.  This feature will leave more space in the renovated library for new amenities such as 24-hour study areas, a cafe, group study spaces and quiet zones. The first phase of the project consists of the installation of 32 trailers to serve as a temporary home for library services. This will make room for the library to be vacated in June and construction to begin in July with an estimated completion date of Summer 2021.
